EARLY ACADEMIC PURSUITS:
Prof. Dr. Musse Mohamud Ahmed embarked on his academic journey by earning a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Somali National University in 1984. His commitment to further education led him to obtain an M.Sc. in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar, Pakistan, in 1996. He later earned his Ph.D. from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in 2000, marking the foundational years of his academic career.
PROFESSIONAL ENDEAVORS:
Prof. Musse's professional experience spans over 30 years, starting as the Engineering Manager and Head of Engineering Workshops at the Ministry of Livestock, Forestry, and Ranges in Somalia (1985-1990). His diverse roles include working as an electrical engineer for J.A. Jones Construction Company on the USA Embassy Compound in Mogadishu, Somalia. He has also served as a Renewable Energy Consultant in NGOs, focusing on Solar, Wind, and Biogas Projects in Southern Rural Areas of Somalia.
In the realm of academia, Prof. Musse held various positions at institutions like Multimedia University (MMU), KUTKM/UTeM, and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). Notably, at IIUM, he established the Renewable Energy Research Center.
Currently, he is a key faculty member at the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) since July 2016.

Prof. Musse is an accomplished researcher with expertise in Smart Grid Technology, Digital Substations Development, Power System Operation, Electrification of Large-Scale Power Systems, Power Quality, and Renewable Energy. His research output includes over 100 articles, proceedings, and authored/co-authored books on Electrical Distribution Automation, Energy Efficiency, and Solar Energy Applications.
He has led and contributed to significant research projects, including the development of a Smart Grid Low Voltage Distribution Automation System, Spatial Infrastructure Power Development for Rural Areas in Sarawak, and an Integrated Green Energy Management and Automated Monitoring System.

Prof. Musse's impact extends beyond research into the development of human capital. He has supervised and graduated over 30 Ph.D. and M.Sc. postgraduate students. His commitment to knowledge dissemination is further evidenced by the 50 expert training courses he conducted on various electrical power and renewable energy topics.
